Mother’s Prayer For the Gift of Fortitude

O God! Thou knowest how easily I become disheartened and impatient at the necessities, privations, and exertions which the education of children requires of me. And woe to me should I allow myself to be induced by them to omit or to neglect what I must do for their welfare! Grant unto me, therefore, courage and strength, so that I may willingly take upon myself these difficulties and sacrifices of my vocation and bear them with patience. Teach me to venerate in them the Cross, which Thy holy will has laid upon me for my salvation, so that I may take it up daily and follow my Saviour, who has done and suffered far more for me. Turn my eyes towards the precious reward of so many pains and difficulties, which will further the salvation of my children, and obtain for myself untold bliss in heaven. Grant, then, that I may always perform for my children, without fear of labor and privations, whatever is necessary for and conducive to their good education. O Holy Ghost, spirit of strength, grant me the gift of fortitude! Amen. Our Father and Hail Mary.
