Mother's Prayer for The Children When Going to School

O God, Father of light! look graciously down upon my children, who are now attending school. What a precious occasion for the development of mind and heart, and for the acquirement of necessary and useful knowledge, they are now enjoying! Grant that they may use it faithfully and zealously. Keep within bounds their youthful levity and fickleness, and urge them to earnest diligence. Assist them that they may understand and remember well whatever they are taught. Especially visit them with Thy heavenly light, that they may understand well the teachings of our holy religion; open their young and tender hearts, that they may receive the Christian truths with beneficial results. Guard them from the bad influence of wicked children, and lead them into the company of those who may have a salutary influence upon them. Give Thy blessing to the priests, the teachers, and to all who work for my children, that their influence may be salutary and effective. Reward them for what they do. Grant that the school may be a preparation for the eternal happiness of my children in heaven. Amen.
